Experience Matters. Here's Where Ours Comes From.

Every shop says they do good work. Not every shop can show you where that standard came from. At Malecha’s North End, the experience behind your vehicle’s care started long before the doors opened in 2026. It started with a kid who grew up around cars and never stopped learning how to do the work right.

A Start in the Shop, Not the Classroom

Willy Malecha started working in the automotive industry at 15. His father managed the mechanical department at a local dealership, which gave Willy early access to the trade. But it was the paint and body side that pulled him in. He gained hands-on experience as a painter and technician, learning how vehicles are refinished, repaired, disassembled, and reassembled.

That early work gave him something a business degree wouldn’t have: a real understanding of paint systems, surface preparation, quality control, and what it takes to return a vehicle to the condition a customer expects. He learned it from the inside, standing next to the work rather than reading about it.

A Turning Point

A Turning Point

Willy and his father had talked about opening a shop together. When his father passed away unexpectedly in 2001, Willy was left with a decision about what to do next. He could stay on someone else’s path or build the business they had talked about.

He chose to build.

A Turning Point

From a One-Stall Garage to a Full-Service Operation

In 2002, at about 23 years old, Willy founded Malecha’s Auto Body. It started as a one-man operation in a garage near his home in rural Faribault. He did most of the work himself and built the company the only way he knew how: through quality work, long hours, honest communication, and customer referrals.

The business grew because the work earned it. As the customer base expanded, so did the team, the equipment, and eventually the facility. In November 2022, Willy acquired a second location in Waseca. In July 2023, Malecha’s opened a new approximately 11,000-square-foot flagship facility in Faribault.

From one stall to multiple modern facilities, the growth came from a willingness to reinvest in the company whenever customers, vehicles, and the industry required more. The principles never changed. Do honest work. Do it correctly. Stand behind it.

Why Malecha's North End Exists

Why Malecha_s North End Exists

As Malecha’s Auto Body grew, the company regularly needed services like paint protection film, window tint replacement, detailing, and paint correction. For a long time, those services were sent to outside vendors. That meant transporting vehicles, coordinating someone else’s schedule, and placing part of the customer experience in another business’s hands.

Willy started asking why those services couldn’t be done in-house. Bringing them into the operation would give Malecha’s more control over workmanship, scheduling, communication, and final quality. When a new facility created the space to make it happen, the answer became obvious.

Malecha’s North End Detailing & Accessories launched in February 2026 as a separate business with its own identity and service offering, built to give local vehicle owners one trusted place for professional detailing, vehicle protection, and window tint. It’s a separate company, but it carries the same standard and draws on the same automotive knowledge that built Malecha’s Auto Body.

What "Experience Matters" Actually Means

What__Experience_Matters__Actually_Means

“Experience Matters” is Malecha’s slogan, and it’s easy to read it as just a reference to years in the industry. It means more than that. Experience is knowing how much paint correction is appropriate before a ceramic coating, and when to stop before you go too far. It’s recognizing a previous repair that could affect how film or coating performs. It’s understanding how to remove trim, handles, and components correctly so a tint or PPF installation is clean and nothing gets damaged in the process. It’s inspecting a finish under the right light and catching what a less trained eye would miss.

It’s also knowing when to tell a customer that a defect can’t be safely corrected, or that a service won’t deliver the result they’re hoping for, rather than taking the money and letting them find out later.

That kind of judgment doesn’t come from a product brochure. It comes from years of working on vehicles, understanding how they’re built, and caring enough about the outcome to do the preparation that most people never see.

That’s the experience behind every service at Malecha’s North End. And it’s why, when you pick up your vehicle, you can see the difference.
